VIDEO: 2 Female Students Kicked, Punched, Bloodied in Queens - Astoria Park
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Two eighth grade students are now recovering from a terrifying attack in Queens. The girls were jumped by a mob of high school students in Astoria and the fight was all caught on video. Cellphone cameras were rolling as a wild mob scene broke out in Astoria Park on Friday. Stuck in the middle was 14-year-old Samatha Gonzalez, seen on the video in a black and white striped shirt. The honor student said she was badly beaten while trying to defend her friend Christina Campos, who was getting punched and kicked by more than a dozen high school students.

Armed robbery 1900 block of Burgundy 4/27/13 5:05AM
On Saturday, 4/27/13 at or about 5:05AM, the victim was walking in the 1900 block of Burgundy when he was approached by an unknown black male. The subject pointed a shotgun at the victim's face and stated give me your money. The victim disarmed the gunman and then chased him. Moments later the victim was approached by two black males in a black four door sedan (possibly a Honda Accord). The driver of the vehicle said to the victim "give me my gun back and I'll give you your phone that you dropped". The victim then used the shotgun to strike the rear windshield of the vehicle causing it to break. The two subjects then fled on Frenchmen to St. Claude and then unknown. The gunman was described as a black male, approximately 16-20 years of age, 6'00" tall with a thin build wearing a black hat and a black t-shirt. Surveillance video captured the robbery on video/audio and can be viewed on youtube.com at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kagO9D... . A similar incident occurred on Friday, April 26, 2013, at or about 12:30am in the 800 block of Touro Street, right around the corner from the aforementioned robbery. In that incident the victim was walking in the 800 block of Touro when he was approached by two unknown young black males. One of the subjects pointed a shotgun at the victim and demanded his property. The subjects then struck the victim three times. The victim fled the scene without relinquishing his property. The victim sustained minor injuries. The victim described the gunman as a young black males and being approximately 5'8" -5'10" tall with a dark complexion and medium build wearing dark clothing. The victim described the second subject as being a young black male, approximately 5'6" tall with a medium build, bushy hair and wearing a light shirt. Hero Bus Driver In Close Shave With Huge Pole A bus driver comes close to being killed by a falling lamppost - then manages to avoid disaster by bringing the vehicle to a stop. A bus driver has been hailed a hero after managing to stop his vehicle despite being struck by a huge lamppost smashing through the windscreen. CCTV footage appears to show Mao Zhihao chatting to someone before spotting the danger ahead, but he has little time to react before the giant blue pole pierces the glass. He seems dive out of the way and manages to avoid being hit head-on, but the pole apparently swipes him to the left of his body. He suffered a ruptured spleen in the accident. Mr Mao was able to bring the bus to a halt before rising to his feet and helping to evacuate the 26 passengers. "I was pinned down by the lamppost and put the bus into gear instinctively," he said. "I just wanted to slow the bus down. "I couldn't see the road, and tried to drive it to one side of the road. The bus hit the guardrails and finally stopped." Mr Mao, who reported the accident to police, was taken to hospital for treatment. The lamppost toppled after a separate two-car crash in Jiangshan, in China's eastern province of Zheijang, on Monday afternoon.

The Karki couple is a permanent resident of Dolakha's Bhirkot VDC. The bizarre baby, however, died after half an hour of its birth, Suntali, the mother, informed. It was taken to the hospital after its death. The news about such a baby being brought to the hospital spread like wildfire and there were hundreds gathered at the hospital to have a look. The police had to be deployed to control the crowd. The baby weighed 2kg at birth and was born after the normal nine-month gestation period. Suntali, already a mother of two normal daughters, was not suffering from any illness during the pregnancy. Nir Bahadur, the father, says he does not feel any remorse for the newly-born baby's death. "I am happy that nothing happened to my wife," he said. A bright meteor briefly outshined the lights of New York City Friday evening (March 22), according to reports by witnesses who used Twitter and the Internet to report sightings of the fireball streaking over a broad stretch of the U.S. East Coast. "Strange Friday night ... a meteor passed over my house tonight!" wrote one New Yorker writing as Yanksmom19. The first fireball sightings came at about 8 p.m. EDT (0000 March 23 GMT) and sparked more than 500 witness reports to the American Meteor Society. Reports of the meteor flooded Twitter from New York, Boston and Washington, D.C. "The witnesses range from along the Atlantic Coast ranging from Maine to North Carolina," Robert Lunsford, the society's fireball coordinator, wrote in an update. "This object was also seen as far inland as Ohio.

Yes, that's what many viewers decided Sunday night during the airing of "The Bible," the epic, blockbuster miniseries that covers both Old and New Testaments. Giddy press coverage followed, with comparative pictures of the character in question, and Mr. Obama. Needless to say, social media ran amok with speculation. But it just is not so, the network says. "HISTORY channel has the highest respect for President Obama. The series was produced with an international and diverse cast of respected actors. It's unfortunate that anyone made this false connection. HISTORY's 'The Bible' is meant to enlighten people on its rich stories and deep history," the channel said in a statement on Monday. "This is utter nonsense. The actor who played Satan, Mehdi Ouzaani, is a highly acclaimed Moroccan actor. He has previously played parts in several Biblical epics - including Satanic characters long before Barack Obama was elected as our president," said producer Mark Burnett.

Barack Obama's Limousine Breaks Down In Israel
Israelis are surprised to see Barack Obama's signature black limousine sitting on the back of a lorry.One of US President Barack Obama's limousines has broken down in Israel. The black, heavily guarded limousine experienced mechanical problems in Tel Aviv before Mr Obama landed in the country for a state visit. Media reports said the vehicle was mistakenly filled with diesel rather than petrol. The disabled limo was swapped for a back-up, and Mr Obama's busy itinerary in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem on Wednesday was not affected. "This is why we bring multiple vehicles and a mechanic on all trips," US Secret Service spokesman Edwin Donovan said in a statement. "Situations like this are planned for extensively by our advance teams so that the President's itinerary is unaffected by these types of issues." The US President arrived in the Middle East on Wednesday for a three-day tour of Israel and the Palestinian Territories. It is his first trip to the region since he first took office in 2009.

North Korea blows up White House in propaganda video (Video)
North Korea has produced another video showing the United States under attack, this time with the White House and the US Capitol literally in the crosshairs. The four-minute video titled "Firestorms will rain on the Headquarters of War" was posted Monday on the YouTube channel of the North's official website, Uriminzokkiri, which distributes news and propaganda from the state media. The first two minutes used still photos of US fighter jets, B-52 bombers and aircraft carriers to portray the United States as a bullying nuclear power intent on bending Pyongyang to its will. "Second by second, the fuse of a nuclear war is burning," a female narrator warned. It then showed a sniper's crosshairs superimposed over the White House, before switching to animated footage of the dome of the US Capitol building exploding in a fireball. "There is no limit to the range of our strategic rockets," the narrator said. Angered by UN sanctions imposed after its nuclear test last month, North Korea has threatened the United States with a pre-emptive nuclear strike, as military tensions on the Korean peninsula escalated to their highest level for years. Although experts say the North is years from being able to fire a nuclear-tipped ballistic mile as far as the US mainland, US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel responded Friday with plans to boost West Coast missile defences. It was the latest in a line of similarly-themed videos posted to the Uriminzokkiri channel. An offering early last month showed New York in flames after an apparent missile attack, and another two weeks later depicted US soldiers and President Barack Obama burning in the flames of a nuclear blast.

Egyptian vigilantes beat two men accused of stealing a motorized rickshaw on Sunday and then hung them by their feet while some in a watching crowd chanted "kill them!" Both men died, security officials said. The killings come a week after the attorney-general's office encouraged civilians to arrest lawbreakers and hand them over to police. They are emblematic of the chaos sweeping Egypt and a security breakdown of frightening proportions. Photographs from the scene show one of the bodies hanging with deep, bloody lacerations covering his back. From the front, one of the men's face is completely covered in blood. A photographer who witnessed the scene told the AP that some in the crowd threatened to kill him if he took pictures of the lynchings with his professional camera. Officer Shooting Caught On Camera, El Cajon Shooting, Police Shootout
An officer is shot right in front of a news camera. The entire event is caught on camera including shots fired, officer rescue, SWAT standoff, house fire, helicopter water drops, and more. The suspect, Kevin Collier, shot his 1-year old daughter, his mother-in-law and then police showed up (me too). Upon arriving, officers were met with gunfire from the suspect who had a rifle of some sort. Officer Jared Slocum was struck in the left temple, where it exited the rear of his skull. He was NOT shot in the neck, as it appears. The suspect then set the house on fire, before shooting himself. The fire department could not approach because officers could not confirm if the suspect was dead or not. Firefighters are not going to walk up to a home with the possibility of a man inside with a rifle. Officers requested Mercy Air for transport, but instead took the wounded officer by ground in a patrol car as it would be much quicker. This was on a dead-end street, so the rescue of having to pass the line of fire was very risky. A gas line explodes at one point (bluish smoke). SWAT set up and work with the fire department to help slow the rate of spread. Two helicopters begin water drops, which I have never seen before on a structure, only brush fires. Officer Slocum is doing well, but has decided to "medically retire" from the El Cajon Police Department, move, and go back to college. The officer who was with him, Officer Tim McFarland, was a rookie at the time and was being trained by Slocum. So if anyone wants to badmouth him, keep in mind he was still learning the ropes and in my opinion did everything right. Touching and Dramatic MOMENT Rescuers Form Human Chain To Save Boy from the Sea in NZ: The father of a New Zealand boy pulled from powerful surf by brave locals who formed a human chain has thanked rescuers for saving his son's life. 12-year-old Joshua McQuoid was playing with two friends at a Napier beach when he was caught by a wave and dragged deeper into the water by a vice-like undertow. Vision shot by a young bystander showed frantic beach goers, led by a German tourist, and police officers trying desperately to pull the boy from heavy surf but with no success. Only after people linked arms to form a 12-strong human chain than held fast, were two police officers at the front able to grab the boy and throw him towards the shore. Joshua was inched clear of the break and carried to the beach unconscious before being revived with first aid. His father Shane McQuoid says Joshua is recovering physically but was still "shaken up" from the experience, which he'd told his dad was like being in a washing machine. Mr McQuoid told Radio New Zealand he was so thankful to "each and every person" who helped pull Joshua out alive.

Sri Lankan Tamil Mr.Mohanathas (Mohan) Sivanayakam broke the world record of Guinness by piercing 2020 Acupuncture needles on his head by himself. The previous record was made by a Chinese in 2009 by piercing 2011 needles. After watching that event he was very enthusiastic to break that record one day and he did it on December 3rd 2011 in Scarborough in front of many supporters, witnesses and the video recording. Dr. Paul Joseph was beside him and keeps on checking his heart beat often. Mohan is 37 years old family man, from the village of "Moolaai" in Jaffna Sri Lanka currently living in Toronto, Canada. He is very ambitious from his young age to do some adventures and expose his hidden talent. When he was asked why did you choose this Acupuncher needle task, he replied the first thing I want to break that record, the second things is to proof to the public the well famous Chinese Acupuncture treatment for the sickness is very effective and risk free treatment. But people believe that's hurt them and scared to get the treatment. But for sure they will change they mind after watching my video. This is my second attempt to make Guinness world record. In 2005 I tried my first attempt by opened up a "Penny Restaurent"in Scarborough pasted the pennies all over wall. But unfortunately the Guinness authorities rejected it by saying that type of things is not in their category. Even though I didn't give up my ambition and I did my second event successfully and I hope this will appear in the year of 2013 Guinness book. I have already started to collect different kinds of "Mickey Mouse" products like dolls, toys etc. Already a California lady Janet Esteves made the record by displayed 2,760 products in 2008 and won "Memorabilia" award. I will collect more than her amount and exhibit in an indoor museum. So the children can visit comfortably during the winter time and enjoy the collection of "Mickey Mouse". The entire Tamil community should be proud about Mr. Mohan's great deal.
